The Romanian Football Federation announced the termination of Cosmin Curelea as head coach of the Under-21 national team. Curelea, who took over in summer 2025, led the team in 11 matches with 5 wins, 1 draw, and 5 losses. Romania U21 failed to qualify for the 2027 European Championship, finishing third in the qualifiers behind Spain and Finland. Adrian Mutu is expected to replace him, having previously coached the U21 team from 2020 to 2021, leading them to the EURO 2021 group stage.
