Bucharest ranks poorly in the Friendly City Index regarding mobility quality, with significant traffic issues stemming from the uneven distribution of jobs and housing. Despite 41% of residents using public transport, the city remains challenging to navigate. The concentration of workplaces in the north and central areas leads to long commutes for many, exacerbated by traffic from commuters in Ilfov. The study reveals that only 34% of respondents find the city suitable for pedestrians, with even lower ratings for children and disabled individuals. Experts emphasize the need for better urban planning to create a more accessible city, moving towards the concept of a '15-minute city'.
