The nearly 10-kilometer section of the A1 highway is 99.22% complete and awaits safety checks. The Momaia tunnel features over 2,500 monitoring points, with ISU tests scheduled for late November. Transport Minister Ștefan Ovidiu Popa announced that traffic could start in November 2026, contingent on safety requirements being met. The opening also depends on the completion of the connection to DN73G, which is over 80% finished. The section was built by the Austrian contractor PORR, with a contract value of 1.678 billion lei. Popa emphasized that the opening date is not yet set, but traffic is expected next month if all safety conditions are satisfied.
