The courts have started reviewing the suspension requests from ten banks fined over 700 million for alleged interest rate manipulation. The National Bank of Romania disagreed with the Competition Council's findings regarding the ROBOR formation mechanism. The Competition Council's president stated that decisions on whether banks must pay fines immediately or if they will be suspended until the final ruling will be made soon. Each bank faces separate legal proceedings, with the first hearing already held for BRD. All fined banks, including state-majority CEC, have denied the allegations.
