The ten banks fined over 700 million euros in the ROBOR case are seeking to suspend the execution of sanctions. The Bucharest Court of Appeal will decide in the next two weeks whether the banks must pay the fines before the final resolution of the cases. The president of the Competition Council, Bogdan Chirițoiu, emphasized the importance of stopping illegal practices during the ongoing legal processes. If the banks' requests for suspension are granted, payment could be delayed for years, while a rejection would require payment within a month. The fines relate to serious violations of competition rules through the exchange of confidential information regarding ROBOR rates.
