A Bulgarian company has refurbished a locomotive previously owned by CFR Marfă, showcasing it in Ruse after repairs. The 1977-built vehicle was acquired through an ANAF auction. Express Service renamed the locomotive to 55-024 and improved its appearance significantly. The case highlights the undervaluation of CFR Marfă assets, with around 200 locomotives currently for sale at low prices. Union leader Iulică Măntescu notes Bulgaria's better asset management and development of Ruse as a railway hub. Express Service is the only specialized locomotive repair factory in Bulgaria, equipped for various repairs.
