Tea bags, a popular method for brewing tea, were invented over 125 years ago. The origins of tea date back to 2737 BC in China, where it was discovered by Emperor Shen Nong. The first patent for tea bags was filed in 1901 by Roberta C. Lawson and Mary Molaren, who aimed to simplify tea preparation. Another story credits Thomas Sullivan, who in 1908 sent tea samples in silk bags, leading customers to prefer this convenient method. In Romania, tea consumption evolved from a medicinal remedy to a social beverage, especially after the 1990s, when specialized tea shops emerged, offering a variety of teas and transforming tea drinking into a modern lifestyle.
