Russian President Vladimir Putin praised Elon Musk as a genius during a Moscow event, highlighting the significance of Musk's satellite networks amid ongoing tensions. This comes after Ukraine restored full functionality of Starlink and Starshield systems, which had faced temporary restrictions affecting military operations. Putin emphasized that despite political tensions, Russia maintains contact with American partners in space projects, including Musk. The restoration of these systems is crucial for Ukraine's military communications and operations against Russian forces. Musk previously claimed Ukraine violated service terms by using Starlink for offensive drone attacks, a claim Kyiv denied, asserting the systems are vital for their defense efforts.
