He represented Romania at the high-level meeting "Call for Control of AI Frontier Models," initiated by Finland and Norway. Neculăescu emphasized the need for human oversight and high safety standards to prevent misuse of AI, particularly regarding cyber threats and misinformation. He highlighted the direct implications of AI on democracy, economy, and international security, advocating for a human-centered approach that respects fundamental rights and democratic values. Romania supports effective mechanisms to prevent the abusive use of advanced AI systems, especially in military applications. The meeting concluded with a joint statement from leaders of 31 countries, acknowledging the transformative potential of AI while stressing the importance of addressing its risks.
