Around 2,700 years ago, King Ashurbanipal of Assyria recognized the power of knowledge and began collecting texts, creating one of the ancient world's most significant libraries. His collection included various important writings, such as astronomical observations and literary works like the "Epic of Gilgamesh." This emphasis on knowledge influenced decision-making in his empire. Fast forward over two millennia, philosopher Francis Bacon echoed this sentiment, stating that "knowledge is power," emphasizing the importance of inquiry and understanding in human progress. Today, while access to information is unprecedented, true knowledge requires comprehension and critical thinking. Building a personal library can foster deeper understanding and reflection, connecting us to our past and future generations.
