Investments in photovoltaic parks are no longer profitable without energy storage capabilities, according to Mircea Man from ANRE. The payback period has significantly increased, making storage essential for profitability. Existing investors can also apply for storage authorization. Man highlighted significant price fluctuations in electricity and the declining energy consumption in Romania. He reported that 231 establishment permits for 8,619 MW have been issued, but only 113 licenses for 2,312 MW were granted. Additionally, there are 400,000 prosumers, with 151,000 having storage systems.
