On June 5, 1944, Orlando Dell’Andrea wrote a postcard to his wife from a German POW camp, but it never reached her. The postcard was discovered by a researcher and eventually returned to his family, revealing a long-forgotten story. Martina Pallua, Orlando's granddaughter, found the postcard through a Facebook post seeking family members of Orlando. The postcard contained comforting words from Orlando to his wife, Carmela, during a difficult time. After two escape attempts, Orlando returned home in 1945, but his children initially did not recognize him. The postcard arrived just as Martina decided to move back to Selva, allowing her to connect with her ancestor's history.
