Natural gas prices in Europe have surpassed 100 euros per MWh for the first time since December 2022, driven by Middle Eastern conflicts and low reserves. Analysts predict high prices will persist even if the war ends, as Europe needs to replenish historically low gas stocks. Current storage levels are around 75%, the lowest for this time of year since 2009. The high gas prices are impacting consumer energy bills and forcing some industries to cut production. The last significant price spike occurred at the start of the Ukraine war, when prices exceeded 300 euros per MWh.
