The Ministry of Health in Romania is implementing measures to prevent medication shortages in hospitals, including weekly reporting of drug consumption and stock levels. Priority will be given to treatments for cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and rare conditions. The measures were discussed in a meeting with pharmaceutical producers and distributors, aiming to ensure continuous treatment availability. Hospitals will report their medication usage weekly to identify potential shortages early. Additionally, national reserves of critical medications will be increased, allowing for redistribution among hospitals if needed. The Minister emphasized that the responsibility for ensuring treatment lies with the healthcare system, not patients.
