Two Russian soldiers disguised as civilians attempted to reach Kyiv after fleeing their positions near Kramatorsk. They were arrested by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) at a checkpoint. The soldiers, part of the 291st Motorized Rifle Regiment, had recently been sent to attack Ukrainian positions. After abandoning their uniforms and weapons, they tried to travel to Dnipro and then to Kyiv, where one had relatives. However, they were detained when one was found with a Russian military identification tag. One soldier has a criminal history and has fought against Ukraine since 2016, while the other signed a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry while serving a prison sentence. The first is held without bail, facing life imprisonment, while the second is treated as a prisoner of war.
