The mayor of Slănic Moldova, Benone Moraru, was detained by anti-corruption prosecutors for accepting bribes related to a local contract. He was caught in the act receiving money from a company representative for a service contract aimed at restoring the city's drinking water supply. Moraru allegedly accepted €15,000 as the first installment of the bribe and later received an additional €6,000. He is set to be presented to the Bucharest Tribunal for a preventive arrest proposal of 30 days.
