The mayor of Slănic Moldova, Benone Moraru, was detained for 24 hours by the DNA for bribery. He was caught receiving €6,000 from a company representative linked to a water supply contract. Moraru is set to be presented for preventive arrest for 30 days. The investigation focuses on a 2025 contract worth over 1.4 million lei for urgent water supply restoration works. Prosecutors allege he received payments related to the contract's execution, with previous payments already reimbursed by the local administration. Evidence suggests he received €15,000 in July 2026 and an additional €6,000 recently, both as bribes for the contract's management.
