Despite facing a severe economic crisis and the highest inflation in Europe, Romania is set for record sales during Black Friday. A survey indicates that 70% of respondents plan to participate, the highest percentage recorded. Retail sales have declined by 5% in the first eight months of the year, yet many Romanians view Black Friday as an opportunity to purchase long-awaited items at discounted prices. Analysts predict sales could reach 2.8-2.9 billion lei in November 2026, marking a nominal record but primarily driven by price increases rather than quantity sold. The average order value is expected to rise due to higher prices and installment payments. Caution is advised against impulsive buying, as many consumers may fall prey to false discounts and hidden fees.
