The European Union plans to send its own delegation to upcoming negotiations in Abu Dhabi involving Russia, the US, and Ukraine, signaling a readiness to engage in discussions to end the conflict. Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre initiated a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss peace talks. Although they lacked a mandate to represent Europe, their initiative positioned them as key interlocutors. The European Commission and Council are preparing a joint team of senior officials for the negotiations, with Bjoern Seibert likely to lead. This marks a shift towards a multilateral format for future talks, involving all parties at the same table, a first in the peace process.
