A 6-year-old boy, Ștefan Simota, won first place at the SmartyKids National Mental Arithmetic Olympiad 2026 in Brașov, solving 150 exercises in 8 minutes. His performance included an additional 60 exercises in 2 minutes during a tiebreaker. The event attracted over 670 participants from across the country, all competing in mental calculation without any tools. Ștefan's older brother, Matei, also performed well, finishing fourth in multiplication after solving 360 exercises in 18 minutes. Their achievements reflect extensive preparation in mental arithmetic.
