The government plans to extend measures limiting fuel price increases until January 31, 2027, to prevent a significant rise in diesel prices. Without the extension, diesel could increase by approximately 85 bani per liter starting November 1, 2026. The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Energy have proposed a government decision to maintain the temporary reduction of excise duties on diesel and limit commercial markups on fuel. The current crisis measures were introduced in August 2026 due to high oil prices affecting consumers and businesses. The proposal must be approved by the government and published before the current measures expire on October 31, 2026.
