Hungary has opened the first segment of the M49 highway towards Satu Mare, while Romania's Someș Express project has been delayed until May 2027. The M49 segment, spanning 28.2 kilometers, connects the M3 highway to Ököritófülpös and is expected to be completed by June 2029. In Romania, the Someș Express, a planned 11 km expressway from Satu Mare to Oar, has yet to begin construction despite contracts signed in 2020 and 2025. The project includes two traffic lanes in each direction and additional infrastructure such as road junctions and maintenance centers.
