Volkswagen has introduced a flock of 100 sheep to maintain grass under solar panels at its factory in Września, Poland. This agrivoltaic system allows for simultaneous electricity production and livestock grazing. The sheep, of the Wielkopolska breed, will stay until autumn, helping to manage vegetation without traditional mowing equipment. The solar park, with over 31,000 panels, can cover the factory's electricity needs on sunny days. Researchers are studying the impact of this system on animal behavior and the environment. The factory, operational since 2016, is expanding with new facilities for electric vehicle production.
