The Poiana tunnel, the first highway tunnel in Romania to use advanced boring technology, is set to begin construction with the arrival of its 131-ton boring head. The tunnel will be 1,780 meters long and has a final diameter of 12.5 meters. Transport of the boring machine components from Călărași to the construction site has begun, with over 100 oversized transports planned. The construction progress on the Cornetu–Tigveni section has reached 18.89%, with ongoing work on various structures and an experimental asphalt section.
