Starting from the 2027-2028 school year, Romanian high school students will have the option to study two new subjects: Artificial Intelligence and Digital Citizenship, and Sustainability 2.0. These subjects were approved by the Ministry of Education and Research and will be available for students in grades IX to XII, with Sustainability 2.0 specifically for grade XI. The introduction of these subjects is optional and will depend on the schools' educational offerings. The curriculum will be aligned with national educational standards and methodologies, ensuring that not all schools are required to offer these subjects. The approval was formalized through Ministerial Order no. 5.808 on October 14, 2026.
