A rare dinosaur skeleton named "Jodi" was sold for $47.3 million at a New York auction, becoming the second most expensive dinosaur ever sold. The auction, held by Sotheby’s, saw six collectors bidding for the well-preserved Nanotyrannus specimen. The skeleton features a nearly complete skull and was discovered in 2019 by Jodi Pierson in Montana. The identity of Nanotyrannus has been debated for nearly a century, and "Jodi" is the first specimen sold after its classification was confirmed in 2025. The previous record for the most expensive dinosaur was set by a Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton sold for $50.13 million in 2026.
