Ukraine has initiated the development of its own satellite communication network, launching an experimental satellite named Obria Nano in collaboration with Danish company GomSpace. This satellite aims to test technologies for a national communication infrastructure, with control remaining in Ukrainian hands despite the launch being facilitated by SpaceX. The initiative addresses concerns over reliance on external communication services amid ongoing conflict with Russia. Ukraine plans to create a constellation of satellites for nationwide coverage and has signed agreements with Finland to enhance satellite capabilities. Meanwhile, Russia is developing its own satellite communication system, raising security concerns for Ukraine and neighboring European countries.
