The Bucharest Court of Appeal will decide whether to extend Călin Georgescu's preventive arrest or to release him under judicial control. His current arrest mandate expires on Wednesday at 23:59. Supporters have gathered outside the court as the judges deliberate. If the court postpones the decision, Georgescu could be released. The Tribunal previously ruled that judicial control was sufficient, citing a lack of evidence for new charges against him. The Tribunal found no substantial proof of the alleged crimes and noted that the defendants did not evade prosecution or attempt to influence evidence. Georgescu has been in custody since September 29, accused of defrauding a businessman of 1.1 million euros.
