Starting November 1, 2026, the EU will implement a new processing fee of 2 euros for packages sent from outside the EU. This fee will be charged per product category in a package, not per item. Online platforms and merchants will bear the cost, but may pass it on to consumers through higher prices. This fee is separate from the existing 3-euro customs fee for low-value imports, which is temporary until July 2028. The measure aims to manage the increasing volume of low-cost imports, primarily from China, and ensure product safety. Authorities will review the fee every two years to maintain its relevance to customs operations.
