Today marks the deadline for DIICOT to appeal the Bucharest Tribunal's decision regarding Călin Georgescu's preventive arrest. Georgescu, a former presidential candidate, has been in preventive detention since September 29, facing multiple charges including fraud and organized crime. His supporters have protested nightly, with participation peaking at 2,000. The investigation began following a complaint from businessman Răzvan Leu. The Tribunal initially rejected DIICOT's request for preventive arrest, placing Georgescu under judicial control instead. Since then, he has been implicated in two additional cases, including illegal operations with software and public use of legionary symbols. Prior to his arrest, Georgescu was already facing three other cases related to propaganda and constitutional order violations.
