The Bucharest Tribunal rejected DIICOT's request to extend Călin Georgescu's preventive arrest by 30 days, replacing it with judicial control for 60 days. Georgescu remains in custody until a final decision is made regarding his case, where he is accused of defrauding a businessman of 1.1 million euros. The court's decision is not final, and DIICOT may appeal. Previously, Georgescu's request for house arrest was denied by the Bucharest Court of Appeal after DIICOT contested it. He has been in custody since September 29, following his arrest on September 21 for forming an organized criminal group and committing serious fraud.
