Starting November 6, drivers in Sibiu renewing or obtaining their licenses will be assessed under new medical standards. Vision tests will now require specialist evaluations, and individuals with alcohol dependency can obtain their licenses after confirmed abstinence and remission. The Ministry of Health has updated regulations, ensuring that a diagnosis does not automatically lead to license revocation. Medical assessments will focus on how health conditions impact driving safety, allowing some individuals to retain their licenses with specialist approval. The changes also clarify criteria for vision impairments and mental health disorders, while stricter rules apply to those using psychotropic substances. The new regulations align with EU Directive 2025/2205, replacing previous guidelines.
