One of the reactors at the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant may restart around November 15, depending on the Danube's water level forecasts, according to Energy Minister Dumitru Chisăliță. Both units have been offline due to low river levels caused by severe drought. The minister noted that while the Danube's flow has increased recently, it is not yet sufficient for reactor restart. Unit 1 was shut down on July 28, and Unit 2 on August 13, impacting about 20% of Romania's electricity supply. Hydrotechnical measures to increase water supply have not yielded expected results, and discussions are ongoing about diverting water from the Danube to support cooling systems. Nuclearelectrica confirmed both reactors remain safely offline, with no nuclear security risks, but the situation affects Romania's energy production.
