The Romanian Ministry of National Defense has signed a contract with Thales for four mobile radar systems to enhance airspace surveillance. The contract, valued at approximately 326.5 million lei, will see deliveries starting in 2028 and continuing until 2030. These radar systems will provide real-time tracking and guidance for aircraft during landing and approach phases, even in challenging weather and electromagnetic environments. The acquisition aims to modernize the Romanian Air Force's capabilities and improve interoperability with NATO systems. Thales will also collaborate with local partners for installation and long-term support, contributing to Romania's defense industry and economic growth.
