Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth, is significantly lower than the Mariana Trench, which reaches about 10,973 meters below sea level. If Everest were submerged in the trench, its peak would still be over 2,000 meters underwater. The pressure at the trench's bottom is immense, and conditions are extremely hostile. While Everest attracts thousands of climbers, only a few have reached the trench's depths. The first descent occurred in 1960, with another in 2012 by James Cameron. The trench not only surpasses Everest but completely engulfs it, highlighting the vast differences in Earth's extremes.
