Cluj Airport has installed 12 automated border control gates to enhance passenger processing and reduce congestion, with an investment exceeding 12 million lei. The system, which uses biometric verification, is designed for EU travelers heading outside the Schengen area and for arrivals from non-Schengen countries. Additionally, the airport has an advanced landing system to improve operations in low visibility conditions. In 2025, Cluj Airport recorded over 3.5 million passengers, marking a 10% increase from the previous year, making it the second busiest airport in Romania after Bucharest.
