Thales and the Romanian Ministry of National Defense have signed a contract for four mobile radar systems to enhance airspace surveillance capabilities. The contract, valued at approximately 326.5 million lei, aims to improve the operational resilience of the Romanian Air Force by allowing flexible deployment and reducing reliance on fixed infrastructure. Deliveries will occur in phases, starting in 2028 and concluding by 2030. The radar systems will provide real-time data for air traffic control, supporting operations even in low visibility conditions. This investment strengthens Romania's air traffic management and interoperability with NATO, ensuring enhanced situational awareness on the eastern flank of the Alliance.
