Valea Saulei, a new protected natural area in Bucharest, spans 5.2 hectares and supports over 80 bird species along with various mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. The area was designated as a local protected site by the Bucharest City Council, marking it as the third such area in the capital, alongside Văcărești and Pajiștea Petricani. The initiative aims to enhance biodiversity and provide recreational opportunities while ensuring environmental protection. Future plans include habitat conservation and educational activities, contributing to urban ecosystem services and improving local air quality. The project is part of a broader effort to establish five protected nature zones in Bucharest, funded by a community environmental platform.
