The Romanian Air Force has signed a contract for four mobile radar systems to enhance air traffic control capabilities. The contract, valued at approximately 326.5 million lei, was signed with THALES ROMANIA SRL and deliveries will begin in 2028. These radar systems will improve aircraft identification and tracking during approach and landing, even in adverse weather and hostile environments. They will be usable for both military and civilian aircraft and will facilitate information sharing with national and NATO command systems. This acquisition is part of a modernization program aimed at increasing operational flexibility and resilience, while also fostering Romanian defense industry capabilities through local partnerships.
