The last Traxx Passenger locomotive for the Romanian Railway Reform Authority is set to depart from Curtici to Alstom Grivița. This completes a fleet of 16 electric locomotives aimed at modernizing Romania's rail transport. Five locomotives are already operational, with the rest to follow. Each locomotive can pull up to 16 passenger cars, enhancing transport capacity. The project includes maintenance services for 20 years, extendable for another 20. The locomotives will serve a 3,978 km railway network covering five major interregional routes. The total project cost is approximately 441 million lei, funded by the Modernization Fund, with implementation scheduled from January 2024 to August 2026.
