The Bucharest General Council has established the Valea Saulei Natural Protected Area, covering 5.2 hectares and home to over 350 wildlife species, including 12 protected ones. This area aims to enhance nature conservation and recreational opportunities for local residents. It becomes the third protected area in the capital, following Văcărești Natural Park and Petricani Meadow, after five years of research. The initiative is part of a broader program to create five protected nature zones in Bucharest, aiming to safeguard over 1,500 hectares of green spaces. The area will be accessible for visits and will have restrictions to protect its biodiversity.
