Three individuals have been indicted in Bucharest for alleged fraud involving EU funds aimed at small farms and young farmers. The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) is investigating 237 projects, with an estimated loss of €3.5 million to the EU budget. Of these, 170 projects received funding. The main accused, a consultant, allegedly submitted false documents for these projects. If convicted, the defendants could face up to ten years in prison. The investigation also involves 30 others who have admitted guilt and are seeking plea agreements, while many more are under scrutiny for their roles in the scheme.
