Today, Călin Georgescu will learn if his preventive arrest will be extended for another 30 days due to fraud allegations involving 1.1 million euros. The Bucharest Tribunal is set to decide on the DIICOT prosecutors' request for an extension of his detention. Georgescu has been in custody since September 29, accused of deceiving a businessman in Buzău. Previously, a request to replace his preventive arrest with house arrest was denied by the Court of Appeal. Prosecutors allege that Georgescu misled the businessman into transferring funds for a non-existent investment opportunity in Dubai, resulting in significant financial loss.
