A recent EY Romania survey reveals that 71% of companies have not tested their readiness for new tax audits based on SAF-T data. Despite processing over 1.2 billion electronic invoices and millions of SAF-T declarations, many firms have yet to analyze their fiscal vulnerabilities. The shift towards digital tax administration requires companies to proactively address discrepancies in their reporting before they trigger tax risks. Additionally, 59% lack formal processes for intra-group transaction assessments, and many feel unprepared to justify their transfer pricing adjustments during audits. The survey highlights a pressing need for improved automation and a systematic approach to VAT implications of transfer pricing adjustments. Companies also express a desire for greater transparency and better communication with tax authorities as audits become more data-driven and complex.
