The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has surpassed 10,000 confirmed cases, raising concerns about its potential spread to other countries. The latest report indicates 10,060 infections and 4,887 deaths. This outbreak, caused by the rare Bundibugyo strain, is now the largest and deadliest in the DRC's history, exceeding the 2018-2020 epidemic. Neighboring countries like Kenya and Nigeria have reported cases linked to the outbreak, prompting health authorities to investigate the origins of these infections. Uganda previously reported cases but was declared Ebola-free by the WHO in August, although it has implemented quarantine measures for returning citizens from the DRC.
