The vaccination campaign for sheep against small ruminant plague and sheep pox has started successfully, with around 100,000 animals vaccinated in the first two days. According to Alexandru Bociu, head of the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority, farmers welcomed the veterinary teams. The campaign began on October 25 in Constanța and Tulcea counties, one day earlier than planned. Romania received 1.1 million vaccine doses from EU reserves, with 300,000 for small ruminant plague and 800,000 for sheep and goat pox. Vaccination is free for farmers and aims to prevent diseases and resume sheep exports outside the EU.
