Since late summer 2026, Russia has been using the Filin cruise missile to attack Ukraine. This missile, while small and potentially inexpensive, boasts impressive declared capabilities. Experts believe that if mass-produced, Filin could significantly increase pressure on Ukrainian air defenses. Developed by the Molnia Scientific and Production Association, it features a turbojet engine and can fly at low altitudes, making it difficult to detect. The missile has a range of 1,200 km and can carry warheads weighing up to 100 kg. Despite its advantages, the actual production capacity and cost-effectiveness remain uncertain. The presence of foreign components in its electronics indicates ongoing reliance on external supplies. If produced in large quantities, it could pose a serious threat to Ukraine's air defense resources.
