ANAF has been monitoring online ads for second-hand cars to uncover undeclared sales, leading to the discovery of a fraud case in Argeș. A person sold 75 vehicles worth over 7.2 million lei without paying VAT, resulting in a loss exceeding 1.1 million lei. The sales occurred between May 2022 and January 2025, with cars sourced from both Romania and abroad. Inspectors found irregularities in transaction documents, including false seller identities and handwritten records. ANAF plans to notify the authorities for further investigation due to the unpaid VAT.
