New regulations for obtaining or renewing driving licenses will take effect on November 6, focusing on medical evaluations for individuals with vision issues, mental health conditions, or alcohol dependency. The key change is that a medical specialist's assessment will determine driving eligibility rather than just the diagnosis itself. Vision tests will now include reactions to different lighting conditions. For those with mental health disorders, a specialist's evaluation will be crucial, allowing them to retain their license if their condition does not impair driving ability. Individuals with a history of alcohol dependency can also obtain a license after a period of abstinence and regular evaluations by their doctor.
