The Eurotrans Foundation, established by UDMR, will cease its involvement in the simplified naturalization process for ethnic Hungarians in Romania due to the end of funding from the Hungarian government. This decision follows a clear directive from the Hungarian government after the April elections, indicating that future naturalization efforts will be handled solely by diplomatic missions. The foundation has assisted 140,000 individuals in preparing citizenship documents since its inception in 2015. The cessation of support raises concerns about accessibility for many ethnic Hungarians in Transylvania, as they may face challenges in contacting Hungarian authorities.
